I used Hurst the first time and failed. Now I'm using Saunders. There is no best. I've seen most of the popular ones. Kaplan does come close to NCLEX style questions but it is very expensive.
If money is no object the Kaplan question bank is great but the Saunders review book and question book complement each other well.
I suggest dividing your time between content and questions. Practicing answering questions is a must. You need to be able to look at a question and come up with an answer even if you don't know the answer. That's how NCLEX will be.

Hi, I'm reading all of this stuff and everyone did something different practically and all of that overwhelms me. I just want to know one thing to study and then I can focus on that. If anyone thinks the Kaplan online bank and course are good, please let me know. I'm leaning in that direction.
I also heard that Mosby's CAT was like NCLEX, but the site doesn't give away too much on what you're getting...hmm
i would check the sticky at top of thread new revised first tip of suzanne's plan. i am using it and its affordable and all you need is one book with the cd. alot of people have passed with her plan research it. good luck.
I used Saunders and passed. I followed Suzanne's plan although I have to admit I sometimes did more than 100 questions per day. I allowed myself 2 months and I felt quite confident when I went in to test and when I left.
My advice is to be disciplined in your approach to studying, it worked for me.
Hi all, I know this has probably been asked a million times, but what's the best study plan to use for NCLEX? Kaplan, Hurst, etc...? They're all coming at us wanting us to choose and I have no idea, but thought those of you who have used them would have better experience? Also, Is it necessary to pay all that money (Kaplan is $350 for the class and online help), or can you/did you study on your own and do ok? I need guidance badly. Please help!!!
Thanks in advance!
I do self study for Kaplan and Saunders. I used Saunders for review for basic knowledge then I used Kaplan to study how to think NCLEX on how to tackle a question.
Good luck!!
