What are the steps to become a CRNA after RN.

Published

Hi. Guys i'm new to this website. I'm a nursing student from melbourne, australia and I always wanted work and study in the U.S. I wanted to know how to become a CRNA after becoming a RN. Does anyone know the exact steps? or any ideas? I would really appreciate that.

Hello Jenny Lakes,

We moved your topic to the Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist forum.

Others can advise the CRNA process after RN licensure and taken the steps necessary to locate to the U.S. We see you've asked how to seek jobs in the U.S. in your other topic.

Good luck and again, welcome to allnurses.com.

I am currently applying to CRNA schools now. I already practice nursing in the US, so I don’t know about transferring your RN to US.

Heres what I do know: you need a BSN and between 1-2 years of ICU experience depending on the program. Different programs require different prerequisite classes and different certifications. You can find those requirements on the schools website. This is my first year applying and so far I have gotten interview invites for all the schools I’ve applied to, so I would say my stats are pretty competitive. Here are my stats:

3 years Shock Trauma ICU at a level 1 trauma center

CCRN TCRN PALS ACLS

30+ hours shadowing CRNAs

Charge nurse, preceptor, unit council member

Hope this helps!
