Here is info about the Nursing Licensure Compact: https://www.ncsbn.org/158.htm
If your home state is a member of the compact, the other compact states will recognize your home license and you can work in those states without having to apply for another license.
As you can see from the map and list at the website, IN, MI, and OH are not currently members of the compact. However, if you have a valid/active IN license and want to work in OH or MI, you can simply apply to the OH or MI BON (or both!) for a license in that state. You can be licensed in as many states as you wish (provided you meet their requirements and pay the fees).
Since the endorsement process typically takes some time, if you think you want to work in OH this summer, it would be smart to go ahead and apply now, so you can have a license in hand by summer. I'm sure the OH BON website has all the info you need for how to apply for licensure "by endorsement" (that's the term for when you are already licensed in one state and want to get a license in another).

Ok I saw an earlier post about an Indiana Nurse working in Ill and having to wait for their IL license or something along those lines.
I have seen posts on the main board about practicing out of the home state and some states will take another states license with out having to wait for lic verification or soemthing like that, like certain states if you have a SC license you can work in NC or GA? I dont remember exactly.
So the gist of this question is....with an Indiana lic can we work in Mi-OH??
I tried to go to our states BON site today and it said it was being "upgraded" or something, regardless I couldnt find the answer.
I ask this because I am close to the Ohio line and I know of a few small hospitals over there that pay pretty good PRN pay, and even though right now I dont want another job, this summer I may.
Also I went to school with some Ohio residents but they sat for the Indiana boards.
If anyone knows, please share.
Thanks
