What all does a school physical include?

Published

Hi all.

I have a SIM lab tomorrow and one of the "patients" notes says from the "RN" is that the 11 year old is in for a school physical and the mother has some concerns that need to be addressed. It says diagnosis is child obesity.

I wanted to know what does a school physical include?

I have questions I can ask the patient and parent like: what are your favorite activities? what special talents or skills do you have? What are your hobbies? What kind of foods do you like? What do you typically cook for your family (to the mom)? When performing activities, do you notice your child having difficulty breathing? Does your child enjoy watching tv and what are the typical hours in a day does s/he spend watching tv?

So those are questions I have in mind to ask the child and mother, but I am wanting to know what does a school physical include?

What do the nurses do during this?

What other questions should I ask?

What do parents with obese children usually have concerns of?

What if a child or parent refuses to modify their diets for a healthier lifestyle?

Also, it says the orders is to plot their growth and height on the chart.

All advice is appreciated.

I hope your presentation on aneurysms went well today.

I'm curious as to how you prepare yourself for most school assignments:

Is this forum the first place you go when sitting down to study/do homework?

Do you read your textbooks, lecture notes or other materials and attempt to work on your own before asking for help?

I hope that your answer to the first question is no and the answer to the second is yes. Because that's how you should be handling your assignments. Do your best first, then come here for help with specific snags in your progress. Bringing wholesale assignments to an Internet forum and asking for answers will not help you learn to research & understand your subjects, nor will it help you develop critical thinking skills. Judging from your posting history, I am concerned that an Internet forum is your sole source of research. My other concern is that, as in this post, you are leaving assignments til the last minute. That is not a good habit.
