Preferably Naples, Fl but Florida in general is fine.

I just got hired as a nurse resident in Tampa at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital (Baycare system) and they offered me $24.42 for days, $29.24 for nights and a $1 more on weekends. I took the day shift :)

By the way, what exactly is a nurse resident? Is it just a new nurse?

It's just a new grad nurse and you usually have classes for a week or two, mentors, a longer orientation & debriefing stuff.

Oh ok and is all that to get you ready for your first job?

I currently live in Naples and can tell you what I have heard about salaries. This is just from asking around while in Clinicals, because I'm still in school.

NCH floor jobs: start at around $24 day shift

Physician's Regional floor jobs: $28 day shift

Lee Memorial (Ft. Myers): $22-26 day shift.

Not sure about critical care, ER, etc. These are just M/S rates, including tele and oncology (if you have your OCN I think NCH pays $3 more an hour).

Travel nurses make a lot more, but are only here "in-season" which is December thru Easter. They are all hired through agencies, from what I've heard.

MeganD- OMG. Thank you!! It is good to have finally found someone on here that lives in Naples! :)...Those are pretty good salaries. What school do you go to?

my friend just finished her associate and passed her nclex, hospital started her off at $29/hr for ER nights +$3 on weekends

How long is your residency program for and did you have to sign a contract? If so, for how many years? That is a very good starting salary for the Tampa Bay area.

Medic362 - Where at?

I was surprised there was no contract, only for the people doing ER/ICU. Ours is 10 weeks long (this is the 2nd week). The people at St. Joes are amazing....sooooo glad I got hired (had no connections and went to school in WA state). After the 10 weeks I think we can stay if we like our floor, I'm doing peds hematolgy/oncology or we can get placed somewhere else.
