What is a safe # of points to be accepted into the RN program!!

Published

Wow, I was dreading my math and algebra and I aced those!! I have everything done except for my A & P's, then Micro. I currently have A & P 1, not doing so well!! My grade point average since returning to collage last year was 4.0 for first semester and 3.75 for last!!! I have a C right now in A & P but only like 4 points of having a B, we have 2 more lecture tests and 2 more Lab, then our final shich is comprehensive and worth 100 points!! You can get a total of 900 points and our lab is added into that as well!! I am just so scared that if I make a C in this class and an A in my CNA that my grade point average will go down, and my points will too!! I have not taken the NLN yet, in December!!! I feel like a failure because I have gotten so used to getting A's last year and one B out of 8 classes, plus it had been 11 years since I attended collage!!

So my question~the most possible points that I can get on my NLN is 37 or 39, then how will they get my cumulitive grade point average to see how many points that I get for that!! I am applying for the fall!! This has always been my dream, nurses deserve so much respect!!!

Thanks alot!! Cheryl:)

Cheryl,

Here is what I was just recently told by my admissions director. They look at the entire picture. This includes any previous medical related work experience, GPA, NLN scores and reference letters. One C will not make you or break you. She also told me that they zone in on your A&P2 grade do to it being more physiology, which is essentially knowing how the body works. A&P1 is more memorization.Try to kick butt on your NLN scoring somewhere in the 85 and up percentile. You're in good shape right now, keep going! And remember the big picture. Good luck!

Thank you soooo much, that made me feel so much better!!! If something were to happen and I don't get in this fall, I will just take my micro in the fall and apply for the spring!!!! I have came to far to give up!!! Wish me luck on the NLN, I have been studying plus my advisor said that it was a plus to already have taken Anatomy and my Math before the exam!!

Thanks again and I am so glad to have found this web site!! Cheryl:D

Apply with whatever you have, if you don't get in, apply again until you do get accepted.

If you have to repeat classes to get your GPA back up, do it. However, it's not a lost cause yet, you still have time to make your A&P grade higher.

See if any of my A&P quizzes or helpful pages will help you study. http://www.NursingJourney.com. Search the web for quizzes, notes, etc that may help. Outline your notes, read them over and over and over again. Make flashcards.

A&P is a time-consuming class. You have to devote the required study time, or you will not do well unless you have a photographic memory!

Go to your school's tutoring service if they offer one for A&P! Utilize open lab times if offered. Take pics!

Make a CD-R of yourself reading your outlined notes. Listen to that CD-R everytime you get in your vehicle!

There are so many ways to study, and so many ways to bring your grade back up, first thing to do is think positive!!!! Don't throw in the towel yet!

Good luck, and if this is what you truly want, DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!

Wow, thanks for the link to the quizzes Fun2Care! :D
