Anyone know what the requirement is for a foreign nurse coming from the United States to work in Germany.
I am a U.S. Citizen and I got my degree abroad in Thailand. It's a 4 years degree College LEVEL not High school or vacational degree
I was wondering if Germany requires any type of license from foreign country or just a degree in nursing is fine to apply for nursing career?
And What are some requirements that a foreign nurse have to do to work in Germany?

We do have a few threads discussing Germany so may be worth doing a search for them
Hey Silverdragon102,
I have found out only little information on the thread. All I know is that I have to take 4 german language courses to get to B2 and from there on....I am stuck.
LIke in the different States, we have the Nursing Board to get information...Does Germany of something similar to this and in English? I've been searching the web and the only helpful information I got was from the different threads I read today.
From my understanding you have to apply to someone in the town or area where you plan to live and work
I would image that you will be expected to be proficient in German and may even have to get documents translated to German.
Regarding working I am not sure what the procedure would be for Germany
The town I am planning to live in is in Karlsruhe. I have already an apartment there and did some more research today and found out. I have to go to the
"Gesundheitsamt" of Karlsruhe means "Health Department". I will have to check on this.
I am also currently looking for german language courses up to B2 level. I understand more Deutsch then to speak it. That is also the problem. :D
The procedures for foreign nurse who wants to work in Germany is really unknown still for a lot of people I have read in different threads.....I will try to find out more. Thank you for your help.

Hi, im an RN in the philippines and im curious about the work of a nurse in germany. I've been reading some opinions and experiences of nurses that work in germany. Is it really hard on finding a job as a nurse there and the work as a nurse also? And also the requirements to work there if you are a foriegner? I'd like to hear more opinions, experiences as a nurse and updates regarding health care profession and status in germany. Thanks a lot.

Are you fluent in German/medical German? That would be a good starting point

Still researching about what the requirements are....my in laws are doing some research for me because a lot of information is in Germany. But first thing is first...Learning german and having connections is a great start. I was in Germany 2 years ago for summer practicum in Heidelberg and I was lucky enough to still have connections with the people there who could help me out.
