What requirements do I need to prepare prior to applying NCLEX in California?

World Registration

Hi, this is my first time to post a topic. I'm very puzzled about the requirements I need to bring to CA because I'm planning to apply NCLEX there. I will soon get an SSN and I was very sad when I heard the CA will not going to provide ATT for International Graduates from year 2005 up to present unless they take some subjects required by the Board of Nursing in CA.

If the latter is not cosidered, how will I start my application? what documents should I prepare before going to USA?

You are not applying for NCLEX but to be a licensed nurse. NCLEX is part of the process.

There are several threads discussing the CA issue suggest a good read but suspect if you qualified or graduated already and you have cases that are not concurrent then you are already going to have an issue

You may wish to consider other options than trying to get the ATT for being an RN in CA, like go for the LVN exam instead or apply into other states without the same enforcement as in CA. I think most kababyans are looking into NV, as it's the one closest to CA. But I just read the NV BON recently added a new English exam requirement.

The idea of trying to enroll in the deficient classes in CA is nearly impossible: very few even offer them, very few open spots, very competitive, will take years from start to finish.

It's up to you to keep wanting to apply into CA, just know that the fees are not refundable even if denied and the wait time is months, with the very high chance, the application will be rejected.

Here's just one example of other poster's struggle with his courses and case: https://allnurses.com/nurse-registration/not-eligible-due-739504.html

The best way now is to figure out what State you want to work and practice in for the next several years and then Google that State's Board of Nursing, you will see all the requirements needed for your desired state. There are 12 other State's besides CA that is enforcing the same concurrency rules, check this forum on those, and it could change as maybe more states are also joining the bandwagon.

Just know that many PH grads and nurses (of recent years, but there are possible exemption if you obtained your license a few years ago) try to get their RN license from out-of-state then try to endorse (transfer) that state's license into CA, it will not work, as then, you must submit the same documentation for the CA BON to reviewed and most likely be denied. So why waste more money and time to go around the licensing process?
