What *really* separates a LPN from a RN?

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

as a new graduate nurse entering the world of nursing, i was wondering... what is the real difference between a lpn and a rn? is it just the tiny technicalities? is there really that much of an educational gap? is it just the pay? i can't come to a conclusion and would love to know. :redpinkhe

thanks!,

I think the difference is in learning a bit past pt. care. It is in seeing a wider and bigger view. The 'BIG PICTURE' as they say. You learn more about why people are who they are and why they become the patients they are. Then you learn how we can help and how it fits into our current social situation. (and our fiscal situation, or rather the company you work for's situation) LPN's are in the patient mode, RN's are expected to see both.
