What position and salary are you hoping for after you graduate?

I am an RN with

I am applying for the RN to MSN at Walden and have been researching jobs and salaries and talking with people in leadership roles at my hospital. However I wanted to throw it out to you all.

What is your goal regarding position and salary once you have finished with your degree?

Thanks

Jen

My goal is to be full time nursing faculty at a community college. My "ideal" salary goal is to continue making the same pay I do now in the hospital ($55,000), but in reality I will be taking a $20,000 paycut. Full time nursing faculty in my area make $35,000 starting out.

Edited to say I finished my MSN in May and am waiting for a position to open at the nearby communtiy college

Specializes in Acute Care Cardiac, Education, Prof Practice.

$35,000 o.0? That is it?

Wow that doesn't even seem worth the student loans.

I know it doesnt seem worth the loans. I am hoping the perks will be enough (day shift, weekends and holidays off, love what I do, etc).

And there is a loan repayment program in my state I hope to get when I get hired full time.

good question!

i just began a direct-entry NP program. i have a previous BS degree in biotech and will be awarded a BSN in 2 years as the first part of the program. i then am considering leaving the program (instead of continuing to receive my MSN and become a NP) and work for a little while in critical care and continue on to anesthesia school to become a CRNA. i have a good year/year and a half to think about it!

as for my salary goals, id like to reach 6 figures :) that is definitely my goal.
