What percent to study for?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey Everyone,

I am taking the NCLEX early in July. I started my more intense studying this week and using the learningext.com module as well as the Saunder's NCLEX guide. On most of the tests/ quizzes, I am only scoring in the 60%-80% range. What is everyone else getting? Is this reflective of only needing 50% of the question correct on the NCLEX? Should I be shooting for a higher percentage before I sit for the NCLEX?

I went through many books and it depended on the books. In Sauders I always did a little bit better and some other books I struggled. I passed the NLCEX with 75 and I believe it is more the content that you are exposing yourself to that is important than your scores. It was discouraging at times with the score - but I did 3,500+ questions and I believe that made a big difference.

Thanks. I talked to another new grad and she said that some of her classmates were passing at 75 questions and were only getting 50-60% on their reviews. I guess it just depends more on how the computer scores you and less on the number of right or wrong answers.

I am going to pick up the Kaplan book tonight and start working through it. I talked to someone that took the NCLEX and said that the Kaplan was prob the most helpful followed by Saunders. I guess I will keep at it hoping that my score will improve in the next couple of weeks.
