What to do after passing the AANP in Florida

Published

Hello,

I have passes the AANP FNP boards and already have a job waiting for me. I have my wallet copy of my FNP certification number. I have also filled out the application for ARNP that is on the Florida board of nursing website. What else do I need to do in order to start seeing patients. How do I get my NPI number? Any advise and direction would be much appreciated.

The NPI number is fairly straightforward - if you already have a job I would use that address as the public can access the site. I have heard that the number gets generated within 1-2 days but I will share my experience that for me it took 42 days and it delayed the DEA license (it was kind of a pain). The DEA license was paid for/taken care of by my employer so I can't speak to that issue. Is your malpractice already done through the employer? You will also have to fill out a lot of forms to get placed on your state's medicaid program for reimbursement.

So, you passed the exam...but do actually have your Florida ARNP license? That is first and foremost...then the NPI number. Check with your employer about malpractice, etc...but consider carrying your own (I do...just in case). You cannot practice until you have your Florida ARNP license, regardless of your certification certificate.
