What opportunities are available with a masters in nursing

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hello!

I don't know too much about getting your masters in nursing so I was wondering what other areas are there besides NP and education?

thanks!

There are several jobs you can opt for once you get your MS in nursing. Some of these include Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Nurse/Midwife, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. If you are keen on making a foray into the administrative and managerial aspect of nursing, you have an MS in nursing administration. I have heard that Stevens-Henager College offers this course, both online and on-campus. You should look it up and also explore the colleges in your area or talk to professors from your college about the opportunities MS in nursing can offer. Reading student reviews and testimonials can also help in such matters.

Keep in mind, though, OP, that you can't just get any MSN and then pursue any of these opportunities; the advanced practice roles require that you have completed an MSN (at least) with a concentration (major) in that specialty. Most graduate degrees in nursing lock you, more or less, into a particular professional/career role or path, so it's important to first figure out where you want your career to go (what you want to be doing), and that will help you figure out what MSN you need to get you where you want to be professionally.

Best wishes for your journey!
