Hi all - I need some advice, and would like another perspective.
My husband is in the Army - we're currently stationed in Colorado. I found a school for which I am qualified to attend, and I have been studying for the TEAs in hopes of starting in Dec. But, my husband's window for reenlistment opens up in October. Once my husband reenlists, we are about 80% sure that he is going to have to attend a training for a new job, and we will be relocated to a different assignment - we just don't know where, and NOTHING is set in stone yet. It's so hard to plan around something that isn't definite, and I just don't know what to do.
So, if you were in a similar position, would you keep studying, and trying to get loans for this school when you are more than likely going to have to move soon?

My friend was in the same situation. I'd wait until you are relocated and then find a place near there. Why add more stress to the already stressful situation of not knowing where your orders will be? And potentially leave mid semester?

I'm in a similar situation...My husband is in the Navy and we'll be moving right after I graduate with my Anthropology degree...He will be changing jobs so we won't know where we're moving until right before thus I won't be able to apply to any nursing programs beforehand...This means I'll have some downtime during which I plan to either volunteer or work at a hospital...Our base here is having a reduced cost phlebotomy class which I'm hoping I'll be able to take and use this to gain some experience.
Do you know what his new job might be and where they typically transfer that job? That's what I've been doing...and of course all those schools have different pre-reqs
I'm sorry I don't have better advice...I know how frustrating it can be to keep having to put off important things...Good luck!!

This is a big reason I am going into nursing in the first place - my fiance is in the Air Force and I want the flexibility that comes with nursing, along with want to take care of people.
That said, I would personally wait until you move. You can probably expect your assignment to be ~3 years, so you can find another school in the area that you are qualified for and attend that one. You may want to keep studying for the TEAS since a lot of schools require that, and the studying won't hurt.
Thank you all - that's what I've been thinking. I'm just bummed that I have to put my plans on hold...once again =/
Katoswife: Not sure what job he's going to pick...he's thinking something in Intel. I've been doing what you said...finding out where AIT and assignments for those jobs are...I just feel really dumb looking at all these school with all these different requirements and we don't even know where we're going! =P
