Hello
I am a new student and at the hospital I would like to seek employment at upon graduation, they require 1 yr med/sug. nursing before trasferring to other depts. It this standard? I am wondering what med/surgical entails. Thanks!
I just started on Med surg. I was in neurology, and I am really
liking it, but feel that I am a duck out of water, I am just hoping
that things will fall into place, I am on a huge learning curve
skill wise. LIke putting together the whole post surg bed for
trapeze and weights..........yikes.....
I have a question....
I'm a 2nd year student, and we have separate med and surg placements. 1st term I was on a gyne surg ward, 2nd term, a general medicine floor.
Do all hospitals have separate units for medicine and surgery?
Or do they have the post-op pt's come to the same floor as stroke/MI pt's? (seems weird to me...)
Is it a Canadian thing?

The criteria for our unit is any patient with cardiac problems or a stroke dx, which may or may not include surgery or a medical dx in addition.
and I LOVE IT!
