What do you love most about being a PCT?

I am due to start my PCT class next week, and I am really excited. I have also just started my pre-nursing courses.

What do you love most about being a PCT? What do you think is the hardest part of your job? Any advice for somebody just starting out?

Thank you so much for your responses. I'm looking forward to becoming an active part of this community!

Hello!

Congrats on taking the first step in your nursing career! I am a PCT on Med/Surg startintg my BSN in May, I enjoy my job but it can be very demanding. I LOVE the patient interaction very much, and I love learning things from my co-workers. I think I annoy the nurses sometimes because I love to watch everything they do!

The hardest part of the job to me is being on my feet constantly for 12 hours. I sit down for a 30 minute lunch break once a shift IF I have time, and I'm not used to that yet. The hospital is just such a busy and overwhelming place at times, but I love it.

I can't wait to be a nurse, but being a PCT is giving me valuable knowldege that I will carry with me through nursing school, and throughout my career. I think it will also help me in nursing school becuse I will already be comfortable with patients.

Good luck in your journey to becoming a nurse:)
