I am a nursing student and was wanting to know about everyones RN, LPN etc...experiences. Do you LOVE what you do? Are you hands down glad you made the choice to be a nurse? Are some of you afraid it isn't for you after all? Are you being paid well and feel compensated? Also, what do you least like about your job. Please be honest, I'd really love to know.
Thanks
Christy
I love my job -- research. I love being on "the cutting edge". I enjoy my patients. I like it that some are long term and some are short term. I like the mix of paper and patients. It's wonderful that I work 8-5, five days a week, no nights, no holidays, and only 1 half Saturday a month. We also get a lot of respect from most of our docs for what we do.
I love working for the university because I get 18 hours vacation every month. Plus 11 paid holidays. And the retirement program is great.
What do I hate? No-shows, slow days, having 8 administrators to 4 nurses, the one icky MD we work with, and having to renew our grant every 2 to 5 years.

I love just working 3 days a week. When I worked 5 days a week it seemed like all I did was work. I now have time to do things other than work!
