Hi everybody!!

Finally after almost 3 months of struggling for finding a job, I received a call from a local hospital. I went for a interview a few weeks ago, and they called me back last Friday. I was offer a position in Telemetry Unit. I told the nurse recruiter, that I do not have a lot experience in that field. She told me that they'll provide me some classes and orientation. Anyway, they scheduled me for this coming week to sign in a contract for the position. However I've never been employed as a RN here in the USA. What things should I consider before signing in a contract. I know that I need to ask about the work schedule, length of the contract and of course the salary range. What else should should I ask? Just I to let you know that I'm a foreign educated RN, and this job will be my first job as a RN. Please somebody can advice me more about it.

Definitely find out if you should get fired/quit before the end of the contract if you'll owe them money. I've never dealt with thos, but that seems to be the common theme on here with new grad contracts, particularly if there's a sign on bonus.

you should have opportunity to review the contract before signing and it would not be unreasonable to have an attorney review it for you so that you understand what you are signing.

If the contract involves any kind of sign on bonus or relocation allowance I strongly urge you to put that money away in a bank account and don't touch it until the contract period is over. That way if you feel the need to leave before the contract is up you have the money available to buy yourself out of it. Be sure you understand exactly what the penalty would be for leaving before the contract is up.

I'd also want to see exactly what training you will receive as well. The contract should benefit you as well as the facility.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I really appreciate this.
