What should I wear to my CNA interview at a LTCF?

Published

Hello everyone! I just finished my CNA class and took my state test, I passed :-) Just wondering what I should wear to an interview? Scrubs, so that I "look the part", or dressier, nicer clothes? Help!

They told us in clinicals to not wear scrubs to an interview, but to wear nicer, dressier clothes. No jeans or hoodies or sneakers. A nice pair of khakis and a dressy shirt or something along those lines.

Good luck!!!

Agreed. Never -- I repeat "NEVER" -- wear scrubs to an interview, even if it is just at a LTC facility. I can't tell you how many people I've seen show up wearing scrubs. It is a very cliched thing for new CNAs to think they should dress up in scrubs. It's the equivalent of showing up to NASA for an interview with your spacesuit and helmet already on. Don't do it. It makes you look inexperienced, way too eager to get the job, and doesn't make you stand out from the other 23 people that have applied for the same position and have the same qualifications as you. Your interview is your chance to prove to the DON, HR people, or whoever that you are a dependable and CLASSY person. Show them that you're different. Make an impression (and a GOOD one) that they are going to remember when it comes time for them to make the tough decisions.

Thank you so much to both of you, I appreciate the advice :-)

I'd wear a cute blouse, cardigan or blazer, and a knee-length skirt or pair of dress pants. And cute flats. No acrylics on your nails and keep them short.

Hi,

I don't know if you are a male or female, but no matter what, don't dress too sexy. especially if you are a girl, never wear short skirt or low cut shirt! Dress suits always works the best! Also make sure you are early but not too early for the interview (15 min.), and turn OFF your cell phone, don't even put it on vibrate.

Good luck!

Thank you, very good advice!

A friendly smile doesn't hurt either. It's an interview - not an execution. Relax, don't stress. :)

I forgot that part! Okay, deep breath! :-)

business casual is more appropriate for a cna interview than a business suit.
