What should I do Rn or LPN?

Published

So I have been a aide for three years and currently working at a ltc facility. I love my job so much I've decided to go to school for nursing. My question is should I go for my lpn or Rn?

If this was my choice I would get my RN. Being an RN involves more schooling but in the long run it would help. Registered nurses have more responsibilities than LPNs. If you had other obligations such as a family to care for, I would say get your LPN, but if you don't why not go all the way and get your RN. Also, job opportunities for an RN are more frequent because they don't have to work under other nurses. A LPN is under an RN's supervision and they have to go through the nurse above them before doing most things.
