What hospitals in Philadelphia have the best mom/ baby units to work for?

Published

Hi everyone my name is Leilani,

I am currently a maternity nurse and I have been in this profession for the past 10 months and I do labor and delivery and mom baby. I really love maternity nursing and I've always wanted to specialize. I really would like everyone's opinion as to what maternity hospitals in Philadelphia to work for. if they can tell me what is the best mom baby units to work on for the weekend programs in Philadelphia. I would like to get everyone's honest opinion about each hospital. the work environment and what it's like to be a part of this mom baby unit because I'm looking to apply to these hospitals. and being part of this community I feel would allow me to interact with more nurses so that they would give me their honest opinions about the hospitals that they work for. Thank you!!! Any comments at all would be greatly appreciated.

I have no experience in Philadelphia, just jersey. I would not recommend my previous place of employment. but for a cool different experience and since you have so much experience... children's hospital of Philadelphia has a special delivery L&D at their hospital. It is for high risk deliveries only. And babies who they know will need surgery. Always sounded so cool to me. Check it out.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

I think St. Christopher's Children's Hospital may have a similar unit.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

Check out Pennsylvania Hospital (in Philly) and Holy Reedmer Hospital (just outside of Philly; NE Philly to be exact)...I have the experience of my OB rotation with those amazing nurses at Holy Redeemer Hospital; CHOP has an excellent unit as well; they usually have openings for that unit when I worked there. Pennsylvania Hospital is part of the Penn Medicine network and has a stellar reputation of being "the new L & D unit" in Philly. Check pennmedicine.com for any openings-hope this helps!
