I am planing on moving to Houston. I am very serious about moving there. I am so serious that I am vacationing there in June to check out Houston. Any one has any idea what hospital to work for? I will have my BSN by then, with 6 years experience. How is the pay? I am moving from Florida.

You may find it easier to first determine what area you would like to live in. THEN - look at employment options... if you don't want to be stuck with a really sucky commute. Salary may depend upon exactly what type of experience you have. If it's in a high-demand clinical specialty (such as OR, CVICU or Level 1 ED) the offers will be higher.... even more so if you're certified in that specialty!

Many nurses gravitate toward the Texas Medical Center (TMC), but frankly, I don't know if the benefits outweigh the logistical hassle associated with remote parking, crazy traffic congestion, etc. All of the 'flagship' hospitals in TMC also have satellite facilities in other areas of the city - with the same benefit structure & free convenient & safe parking.

Are you looking for a 'beachy' environment? If so, you may want to look at Clear Lake. It's a nice area with two large hospitals - one is right across the street from NASA (srsly).

Welcome to my town!!
