What is Home Health like

I'm thinking of giving Home Health a try. Can anyone in this area of nursing describe their job to me

I'm wondering about hours, duties, a routine. Anything would be a help!

I have worked in homecare as a homemaker/ cna..I can honestly say unless you are good at managing your time, have a newer car that runs real good, you travel alot, the compensation for gas really doesnt equate to the milage you put on your car..the pay not that great..not to mention..you are not in a nursing home where you have back up if there is a problem..your by yourself..so..I mean some people love it..but its tough to get started, it takes alot of tweaking to find a good match with clients sometimes because your in there home..so hey maybe you will get lucky but for me personally it was a financially not worth it..and a pain in the bum..

i work only saturdays and sundays, and our agency works with home hospice to provide support staff.

the good thing? flexable time, no call lights, and in my area and specialty pretty good pay. (ohio, hospice)

bad thing? you are on your own. if your pt has a bm to end bms your the one cleaning everything. also we get ppes from the agency but you have to bring them to the clients so if you forget your bag you could be in real trouble. and family can get pushy about wanting info, you have to know how to gracfully extract yourself from overbearing "cousin-whos-best-friends-older-sister-is-a-RN-so-she-thinks-she-should-tell-you-how-to-whatever". pretty funny if they walk in the room and you havent taken out the depends yet lol. nothing like some death bed bm to make you rethink doing my job.
