What happens after failing NCLEX 3times!?

Published

Has anyone ever heard that if you fail the NCLEX 3 times you have to repeat nursing school?? A friend of mine told me that the other day that its a new revision by the MBON but I kinda think she was given false information. Does anyone know for sure what the consequences are for failing more than 3 times? I'm getting ready to take it for the 3rd time and I would really hate to have to repeat nursing school. I dont think I'd do it. I just got my results packet in the mail and it said I have to pay a $100 registration fee. All the other times I had to pay $75. Have they raised the price for everyone or just people who fail more than twice? Please respond

The only way you can get an accurate answer is to go to your State BON. These requirements vary from state to state.

The state in which I was originally licensed required remedial education after the 3rd failure (evidence of a formal review program or tutoring), and disqualified the candidate after 6 failures, meaning that the candidate would have to repeat nursing school in order to test again. I don't know of anyone who has failed NCLEX 6 times, though.

And what state was that you got your liscense from?

The raise the rates or costs for all, do not single you out because you are taking it more than once. I am sure that all of the others in your state are paying the same rate.

Does not matter where someone else got licensed, everything is dependent on your BON. You need to meet their requirements to work in their state. They have the final word.

It depends what state you are in CA you can repeat as many times as you need to the other states im not sure about. You could call them and they will let you know. good luck.xx

I'm taking the New jersey board.Unfortunately,it's also my concern coz'i've been hurdling the nclex for the 4th time now. When i filed my re application it is stated in it that i have to take a certain remediation program before taking the 4th try.As of now,i haven't inquired abt it but still my application is on the process.

what happens after the 3rd try? apart from enquiring about what needs to be done next to the BON you are applying at (re entry/re apply/ formal review or program etc), i think you need to regroup yourself... wait a lil bit longer like 3 months or so. prepare well.review more.. earn money for the test... and pray more.... best of luck to all of us...

If they told you that you will need to complete a program, they will not permit you to take the exam again until you can provide them proof of it. Your application may still state in process, but it is at a standstill until you meet their requirements.

Suggest that you inquire with them as to what will meet their requirements, or you will find yourself waiting and waiting.

I am sooo scared about getting my results. I was so concerned about running out of time! I haven't seen my name posted on the BON yet; I stopped at around question 186- pretty odd number- most likely I didnt pass. I think I will start reviewing again- why cant they just tell us on the spot if we passed or failed???? This is TORTURE!!!!!
