What are good questions to ask the school rep when you meet with them?

Published

Hi there!

I'm in the process of looking for LVN schools in Orange County, CA and was wondering what questions I should ask them when I do meet with them?

Also, what school do you recommend? I've been looking at so many LVN schools for the past couple months but I'm still undecided. I've been getting mixed reviews on the schools.

Many thanks! =)

If you are looking at proprietary schools, you need to be clear about the cost and what options they have for financial aid or financing the program. You also want to know how long they have been in business in that area and what is their NCLEX pass rate (this can be checked on the board website). Find out what is the turnover rate for their instructors and where are the clinical sites. If at all possible, you need to first consider programs at ROP or adult schools or community colleges. Programs at these types of providers are a better all around experience for your tuition dollar.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm basically looking for a school that will be easy to get in and a program that will allow me to finish in about a year. I checked the adult schools/ROP and they will only accept a certain amount of applicants. They said they narrow it down to 100 and pick 30 from there. So I think the best route for me will be private institutes.

If you can afford it, ok. But now you have to choose which is the best. These schools do not have an overall good reputation for high quality but if you can survive the school, you can come out at the end with the paperwork to take the NCLEX and that is the most important result.

Thanks for your advice! I appreciate it. =)

i agree with the other replies.check out the tuition, pass rates, whats included with tuition(books, uniforms ect...)and make sure to shop around for the best prices also, private institutes can be really costly.i am also going to a private institute and it is 23,000,it has a great pass rate though.make sure there isnt any monthly fees other than the cost of the program.i applied to a few and got alot of suprises with hidden fees.so please make sure everything is clear about everything they tell you before you sign anything.make sure and check with their financial aid to make sure what they offer also...hope this helps
