What is going on with nursing profesion

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Two days ago, three nurses were standing in front od the patient room and they were making fun of this old poor lady with dementia. It was very sad, but the bigger problem was that patient next door heard all of this and was talking about it with his wife. I was so ashamed that I was working on that floor at the time. What would you guys do in this situation.

I couldn't stand this kind of behavior......i tried to change it.......but felt alone.........so after much soul searching and talking to those i respected and worked with in various departments.....I changed my workplace/unit.........

sometimes the battle to fight was not mine.......

and it is sooo' very sad.............what have we forgotten or never known when "we"(said collectively about nursing as a whole) act like this.........

if it were a one time incidence......then i say we are human and we see and deal with so much that we do get hardened to it all sometimes....until it comes up and kicks us personally(that is).....but this i understand with nurses, RT's, docs, etc.....

but when this is how medical "professional" people act day in and day out......please I want to tell them go sell real estate......these are dear, precious lives and human bodies you are dealing with.........not inanimate objects.........

I know I don't play those games........i have been the other side of the rail.....it is not a fun place to be.
