What do you do if you don't get in?!? Has this happened to anyone!?

I am really scared that I will not be accepted into the nursing program. My school runs on a point system. The more pre-req's you have taken the more points you get. I am not a straight A student. I have all B's and an A, and I am taking my last two classes. I have applied, but I'm so nervous I will not get in and I wasted all this time working hard. :uhoh21:

It seems like everyone here gets accepted on their first try. Is there anyone in my shoes!?!?

I was in your shoes last week!! I just got my letter... and I have been out of school for several years, and I got accepted! :) My marks were average... in high school... and B's in college.

Don't stress, and try to think about something else! The real stress will come once you are accepted.... I thought I was nervous before..

I am right there with you. In fact today I just asked my husband what are we going to do if I don't get in. My gpa is a 3.75 and the nursing school goes by gpa only. I am trying to stay positive, but in one of my classes is a student that applied last semester with a 3.8 and she did not get accepted. Im thinking that if I don't get accepted, next semester Im going to take the cna course. And when I apply again to the school I will apply to both the lvn and RN. I've heard that the lvn transition to RN is easier to get in. It just takes a lot longer to finally become an RN. I won't know anything until we get our letters in May. I wish you Good Luck.

Congrats on your acceptance tutusandfrogs!! and thanks for your encouragement.

Angelsamongus, your right, staying positive is important! I was also thinking of getting my cna, I'm just so tired of going to school!!:chuckle Maybe the pool of applicants we are up against will not be as smart as us :rotfl:. A 3.75 is excellent, good luck to you!!

Well, IMO, alot of what you hear about getting in can be bunk. I have heard so many stories about people with 4.0 or 3.9 gpa's not getting in I could write a book. But I have never personally met one. Anyhoo, dont stress out too bad about whether or not you will get in-easier said than done I know. Save all your sympathetic nervous system moments for your first test in med surg or cardio. You will be sick by the end of the program if you are totally stressed before even starting.

Well, I moved to another state after finishing fundamentals. I WAS IN! Then moved and no one would take my nursing credits, all the schools here had different PRE reqs for their program, and there are 2-4 yr waiting lists. SO, I am moving back.

Do what you can to get in--even consider moving! Stick to it and it will happen eventually. Look at other paths as well: LPN to RN to BSN works for many people. Getting into an LPN program isn't as hard...I got in first try and ended up not accepting and going RN. Check out other schools. Talk to as many people in the nursing department as you can. Study hard and get your grades way up there!
