What was your first day of CNA class like?

Published

I begin the CNA program at my local community college this Tuesday 8/31/10. What is the first day like? there is two sections Theory and Clinicals. Any helping information and experiences is welcomed. Is there anything i should already know goin into the program? What questions i should ask my instructors?

im so excited to be starting my journey in Nursing. My goal is to become an RN. I plan on working as a CNA and enroll in a RN program. I have already been volunteering at Planned Parenthood and i plan to volunteer at this hospital i plan on goin to for employment.

As I recall, my first day was basically an introduction. We were told "this is what a CNA does", and we did the necessary paperwork. I think we also watched a video. Mine was at a facility, though, and not a college.

But, as for being prepared, I don't think you'll ever find an easier class, so I wouldn't worry :). The classroom part will teach you the steps to each skill, and the steps are important to remember for your state test.

 Thanks so much!!!

We did introductions, paperwork, a urine drug test (which took me forever because I had JUST emptied my bladder before walking into class...I had to go buy a bottle of water and chug it!), boring but important stuff like HIPAA, patient rights, OSHA, rules fof the course, etc. I think we might have gotten so far as to start talking about basic skills like taking vitals signs and practicing on each other.

CNA is super easy. Don't stress about it at all!

We did an introduction of each other and went over the first few chapters in our book and only did procedures on certain days of the week, it was a 3 week class. The material is very common sense but my quizzes still there me off with a few questions, but all in all it was a very easy and actually fun class. Enjoy it!
