What was your experience in an Accelerated BSN Program.

Published

Hello fellow nurses!

I will start a 16 month accelerated BSN program on August 24th.. This will be my first degree, so I am one of the younger students. I have a supportive family, so I will not work during the semester in order to focus on my classes. There aren't many accelerated nursing programs, so I wanted to see if anyone on here has graduated from one or is in one right now. I am nervous, but excited too. I know this will come as a shock to me since it's the first time I take any kind of accelerated program. I will be overwhelmed, but I will try my best to get through it.

Can anyone share their experience in their respective accelerated BSN program, whether you graduated from one or are in one right now? Also, any advice would extremely helpful!

I look forward to hearing your stories!

Congratulations!

If you do a search on here you will find a lot of advice from people who went this route.

Good luck.

You say this is your first degree? I'm suprised they have accelerated programs for first-timers. I graduated from an accelerated BSN program, a total of 3 semesters. But it was for people who already had a bachelor's degree in another field. Either way, accelerated programs are tough, but doable. Best advice would be to make sure you can devote the proper time to your studies. I don't know if you have to work while you're in school or not, but the less you can get away with working, the better off you'll be.

Yes, my program offers a BSN degree for first-timers. I am very grateful they do, because like you said many accelerated programs require people to already have a bachelor's degree. So I don't have to go through as much schooling as others. Thanks for the advice!

Hi Purplecat, what's the name of your school and what state? I am looking to apply to accelerated BSN for first degree.

I am so sorry. I have not been on allnurses ever since I've posted and I am 2 months away from graduating from nursing school! :singing: I'm sure you've already fund your school, but just in case anyone else wants to know.

I go to Georgia State University. There are two tracks, the Accelerated program which is 4 consecutive semesters including the summer (15/16 months) and the Traditional program which is 6 semesters, no summer classes (3 years). You can apply to both programs or just one of them. If you put in an application for both programs, just know you may get into both or just one.

Good luck!
