What exactly is Nursing Informatics?

Hi everyone,

Would anyone be able to explain what exactly does an informatics nurse do? My understanding is that they utilize technology to help stream line patient care. I'm good with techonlogy and I have a feeling I would like IT work that helps RNs do their job better. What's lifestyle like in NI (hours, salary)? Thanks very much.
