What is Evidence-Based Implementation?

I was reading an article on evidence-based implementation and am extremely confused about the concept. What exactly is evidence-based implementation?

Please tell me if I am getting it right: It is the use of evidence to support the implementation process.

What are your thoughts on this concept?

Thanks!

Sounds to me like you have it. It's a simple concept really...don't read to much into it!

I would say that an example of evidence based implementation is this: You see that your client, Ms. Jane Doe is in pain. That is your evidence. You give her a prn order of morphine. That is your implementation.

And you just practiced evidence based implementation. :D

Evidence based implementation is the use of previous research to put your implementation into play. It gives you hard cold facts as to why this particular implementation is going to work for this particular case

This is correct, not the other post. For example: We know from research that good oral hygiene decreases the occurance of ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP). That is my evidence. My implementation or intervention is providing oral care to my ICU patient every two hours with a mouth swab and once each shift with a tooth brush. I based my implementation/nursing intervention on evidece...therefore I have just performed "evidence based implementation" of nursing care for my patient. Does that make sense? You will often hear "evidence based practice". I think that phrase is more common than "evidence based implementation", but both mean the same thing...the reason you are doing something is because the research evidence says it is beneficial for your patient.

:D

Ah so...

Evidence-based implementation basically is putting evidence @ work.

I was reading a research article on evidence-based implementation and the authors didn't clearly articulate what the concept is about...I felt so frustrated and thank goodness you guys were of great help :)

Thank you.

Glad we can all help one another!!!! :)
