What electronic charting program to purchase

Our 14 bed facility purchased CPSI program in April. This system is not user friendly at all. This is my first system but many other nurses say this system is the worst system they have ever worked with. As a matter of fact it was causing so many delays in our ER they removed it completely and resorted to paper. Just an FYI.

Schatzi, my biggest concern would be to get in touch with other users of the program and find out if it works as described.

I'm the informatics nurse in a CAH and the system we use is described as friendly but has realy lousy support. The help desk often doesn't even get what we're asking.

If there are other happy users and they are happy with the support go for it. With a small budget the Meditechs et al are not for us.

Our hospital purchased the HMS system. They haven't gotten the charting part yet. I'm not real fond of it but don't have many problems with it other than it can be a little confusing ecspecially to the nurses not used to using the computer.

Thank you for the posts, as in most things we can research and talk to others, but in the end we are going to buy what administration tells us to buy. In this case we are going to go with the dairyland (now healthland) charting componet. I guess we'll have to see...

DON'T pick Meditech; it's expensicve, it's cumbersome, it's not user friendly.......... it's just the worse! Try SIS- Surgical Information System, or ORMIS. I know they are OR systems, but are available for the rest of the hospital.

Just don't get Meditech.The staff will hate it, it takes forever to do simple charting on it.........

wow, sounds eerily familiar--we use CPSI on acute, and when they tried it in the ER, it was quickly abandoned for old-fashioned T-Sheets (my handwriting has seriously devolved since the development of the EMR, but I'll take the T-Sheets any day over the cumbersome, disorganized, and unintelligent version of CPSI we on acute!)

Stay as far away from CPSI as possible! It is a horrible, stupid program. It is the most user unfriendly system I have ever had the displeasure of having to use.

The hospital where I worked at purchased the CPSI system because the said it "fit" the administrave needs. (Translated: cheap!).
