I get the willies every time I read those Group One posts. It nearly makes me physically sick. I don't graduate until next May and I'm already wondering if I'm going to have problems getting a job. I have a record that includes one hot check problem back in 1992 that I resovled and have no other record. Will this present a problem for me when a hospital goes to run my background check? I mean, if I'm not going to be able to work, I should just pack up and quit school. So frustrating!!

I really don't think I would worry about that at all. You'd be surprised at how many nurses who are holding jobs have some little "blip" on their record from the past. I am sure that nurses with really messed up records and major offenses (felonies..) have a lot of trouble getting jobs. That's not what you are dealing with though. They will see that it happened 14 years ago and probably won't even ask you about it. However if they do, just be very open and honest about it. They will appreciate a genuine remorseful attitude. Don't let this scare you away from nursing. Keep at it!!! I honestly don't think you need to worry about this at all. If every single nurse that ever did anything wrong in their past was not able to get a job, there would be an even greater nursing shortage than there already is.

I don't think that will be a problem at all with you finding a ob. However, I would submit a declatory order NOW to the BNE, so that you can get all cleared with them. If you wait for them to find it, you may experience a big delay in being cleared to sit for the NCLEX.
I've already gotten all my stuff together for the BNE. I just have to sit down and finish my letter of explanation which is a real chore. Telling them that I was young and stupid just doesn't seem like enough of an explanation. LOL!!!

Well Ive worked at a law enforcement agency for the last 8 years and spent a lot of that time running criminal histories, registrations, drivers licenses etc..u name it-i do it. If you wrote a hot check, the only way it will show on a criminal history is if you failed to cover the check and were issued a warrant for your arrest. A criminal history will only show all instances where you were arrested, issued warrants, the dispositions on each case and specific details to those cases with any and every agency that you had "a run-in" with. No, traffic tickets are NOT on there unless you failed to pay them or failed to appear in court and were issued a warrant and arrested in either case. On the criminal side these private background check agencies will get 4 things on you- a full rap of criminal acitivity, a positive/negative hit from a national, state, and local warrant database.
Im not sure how they run a person for debt related history.
Hope that helps, but if you have any questions PM me.
Thanks for the info Ree-nee. However, I unfortunately chose to ignore it, thinking that because it was only 100 bucks that they would just forget about it. WRONG!! I told you I was young and dumb at the time. LOL!! I also let a traffic ticket go that got me a night in the can on Christmas Eve 1991. Haven't even gotten a ticket since then. OH if I'd only known then what I know now. LOL!!
yeah, sounds like 2 Class B misdemeanors...I highly doubt they will show up on your record cuz they are so minor. You can always call you local PD or SO and speak to their warrant division and tell them what your concerned about and they should be able to run your name and check it out for you.

for that matter you can purchase a 25.00 publicdata.com account and run a check on yourself to see what shows up.
