Go for it! A GED will not stand in your way at all. I have a GED, started at the local community college, got accepted to a very competitive BSN program, was asked to join Sigma Theta Tau, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

I don't think that will be a problem at all with you finding a ob. However, I would submit a declatory order NOW to the BNE, so that you can get all cleared with them. If you wait for them to find it, you may experience a big delay in being cleared to sit for the NCLEX.

Congratulations! I am a Senior II (only 7 weeks until graduation - whewww!!) at TWU. My advice is to get an NCLEX review book and a HESI review guide. Nursing school tests are like no tests you have ever taken before and you will need lots of practice. I also have to agree with some previous posts, enjoy your summer. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of St. Paul Hospital in Dallas? They are under the UT Southwestern umbrella. I am considering doing a new grad internship there.

You can take both your women's studies and multicultural while you are in the upper division nursing program. I took my multicultural the summer before Junior I and my womens studies online the summer after Junior II. Unfortunately, TWU is about the only place to pick up your womens studies class. Good luck! I only have one more semester in nursing school and am very interested in going into pediatric hem/onc. However, I would like to have another baby in the next few years. Should I wait until I am done with childbearing, or is it safe to go into now?

"That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger." I have had days in clinical in which I wish the floor would open up and swallow me because the nurses treated us so bad. However, I always remind myself that these nurses are often overworked and overwhelmed. A lot of times, they are shocked when we show up! It is hard to babysit someone who doesn't know much about what they are doing. it is hard when you have to ask them to pull meds for you, open the pyxis, etc. Many times we are more of a hinderance than a help!

There are several people who attend the Dallas campus with me who started out in Houston. They now wish they would have stayed in Houston saying it was a much better experience.
