Hi Nurse Beth,

I attended Jersey College failed med Surg by 1 point and had to come up with 5,000 to repeat the class that was starting the next week. I did not have the money. I transferred my credits to Carleen Health Institute. I did classes and clinicals. I received a BSN in nursing my question is. I did not pass the boards so I did not receive a license would I be able to apply to an accredited school to do my BSN over?

Dear Failed Boards,

I'm sorry you are in this situation. While it hasn't worked out, you can still become an RN.

You need to start over since you graduated from Carleen Health Institute and they are under scrutiny.

Find an accredited nursing program approved by your state BON and apply. Be sure to read What You Need to Know About Accreditation.

They will evaluate your transcripts. Admission requirements and prerequisites can vary, so research and contact these programs for specific details.

Financial Considerations. Keep in mind that pursuing additional education has financial implications. Be prepared to budget for exam fees, tuition, and living expenses as needed.

It's essential to consult with your state's nursing board and potential BSN programs to understand your options and requirements. Ultimately, with the proper preparation and support, you can work toward achieving your goal of becoming a licensed registered nurse and completing a BSN program.

Best wishes,

Nurse Beth
