What does the Board of Nursing look for when you're applying to take your NCLEX/license?

This has just been something that has been on my mind for a few days and I haven't been able to research or get a straight answer from anyone, but does anyone know what they look for (in terms of records, criminal activity, etc) when you're applying to take your NCLEX or even for your nursing license? Are there any other things besides the obvious criminal records and activity that could potentially keep you from taking the test and getting your license? Just a thought I have been curious about lately. Thanks!
