Hi everyone, first time poster here!
What area's of nursing can LPN's work in? I am not too keen on working in a nursing home. God bless those that can, but its not for me. I am interested in labor and delivery, newborn nursery, or post partum care, or working in an OR, or for a plastic surgeon. Can LPN's work in any of these area's?
Me being an LVN and a male hasnt stopped me from working in L&D i did it for 3 years in California and in Tacoma WA, I also worked in a plastic surgeons office, my role there was more as an assist and scrub nurse, with some patient care pre and post op,so you can do it you just have to search and be persistant and sell yourself, take it from me because with more than 500 newborn deliveries and 100's of hours clocked in the OR's LVN's can have vital roles in these and other departments

I have worked in just about every area, except OR, which I was not interested in at all. I started in NICU, and was crossed trained to L&D in a county hospital. I have worked in large and small hospitals Examples are NICU at MUSC, Medical City in Dallas, Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio, L&D at Methodist hospital in San Antonio and postpartum some of everywhere. I have also worked several places in ICU/CCU/MICU and ER. It just depends on where you are, and what that state's nurse practice act says.
I am now working as an IS Analyst for a major health system, who is paying for my certification.
