Just wondering. I got it right, but other students were asking and I can see both sides. My instructor said this is an NCLEX question
I only remember 2 of the answers, and like so many nursing school questions, these were the two I was going between. This is for my OB class
What is the number one reason for babies temperature dropping?
A. Heat loss
B. Immature thermoregulation
Here is how I see the rationale going: the question asked for the number one reason that babies' temperatures drop. The temp drop is caused by heat loss, and the vulnerability of babies to heat loss is caused by immature thermoregulation. To answer that immature thermoregulation causes the temperature drop would be to ignore one link (heat loss) in the chain of cause and effect.
I have to say, though, that I feel like I am disagreeing with Daytonite, and that makes me feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable!
