I have heard of the word pillow being used for the capsules that are sometimes used in the disc type asthma inhalers....?
Wow Pattymac..the pieces of the PILLOW puzzle seem to be coming together I havent done it in months but I still want to know more about what is involved if someone asks. But what I remember, where I worked, sometimes, with the mini nebulizer treatment, we would mix n/s and either alburetol in a little plastic container. It was only like about 3-5 ML.s total, if i remember correctly. Its amazing how we can get information so much quicker with the internet.
Well, obviously if it was for an HHN, it isn't a pill or ER tab.
Maybe that is just your local phys term for the SUD ampule?
We call the SUD salines "pinkies". Others say saline amp.
Albuterol and Atrovent also come as a Duo-Neb SUD and some are tall/rectangular,
some SUD's are drop-shaped, and all sorts of styles.
?
Last place I worked I was once sent to the stock room to get some "fluffs".
After getting around the corner I finally found someone to explain that "fluffs" are 4x4 gauze!
Go figure.

That may be it also....
back in the day, before the automatic clicky super inhaler discs, you got a small cylindrical inhaler piece that you took apart and inserted the 'pillow' of med dust into manually, then removed and disposed of the carcass after the inhale.
Good call.

OMG..I forgot ..a facility can have its own language almost. I think that may explain why even expert in resperitory therapy , didnt have a clue. If I see one of the treatment nurses that worked closely with the medical doctor that ordered these treatments...maybe that could explain this PILLOW MYSTERY....the N/s containers could pass for a small doll pillow..
It's a unit dose ampule. They sort of look like pillows when the wrapper is removed.
Thanks that make sense..is there a reference I could use, so I can refer another nurse that asked me too.? A link would help a lot..I couldnt find one..and yes it did look like a pillow and so did the N/s doses that we use.

When I look up the terms..Atroven Pillow or alburetol pillow I dont get a hit. I even asked an RN RRT.. I remember an order for a mini nebulizer making reference to the terms..hope someone else has at least hear the term.PILLOW, and not the one you lay your head on.
