Hi Guys -
I'm looking into WGU for my RN-BSN. Unfortunately the statistics class I took for my previous BS back in the late 1990s is too old to transfer. I won't be starting until next year, so I COULD take a semester-long stats class on-line at my local community college, or I could take the statistics class offered by WGU if I start their program. Any thoughts on which makes more sense? Is the WGU stats class super time consuming?
Thanks.
I completed CJC1 (WGU's Intro to Probability and Statistics course) last month. Overall, it took about six weeks for me to complete. Many people complete it in two to four weeks, but my math skills are very weak, so I needed the extra study time.
I would take it at WGU if I were you. I can almost guarantee that a community college course would have a higher level of difficulty.
I think that either your brain is wired for stats or it isn't.
If it is, WGU is about as easy as you're going to get. This was me - I way overstudied because so many people do have trouble with stats, but could have easily done it with a few days of study. (I did take a stats class 15 years ago, but didn't remember a freaking thing beyond how to calculate the mean going into it.)
If your brain isn't wired for it, I can see it being possible that a GOOD in-person class with a supportive teacher who explains things really clearly might be helpful. But I don't think a mediocre in-person class would be easier.
