Western NC/Piedmont Area

Published

Moving to the Winston-Salem/Davidson County area soon, and was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions for employment. I have sent resumes and applications to facilites on Monster.com, and various other online resources.

I'm a 17yr. experienced LPN with LTC, Corrections, and Occupational Nursing background. I'd prefer something other than LTC. Do any of the Hospice agencies employ LPN's?

I need fulltime employment ASAP. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there Frustrated!!

Where are you moving from??

I live just an inch or so west of the city (W-S) ~~ I'm very sorry to report...that the largest (?) hospital in the Piedmont area (Baptist) -- that I believe now has 20000 employees....I do not believe they hire LPNs any longer....I'm not sure about Hospice. There's a lady on here -- here name is Sabby -- she works for Hospice in Mt. Airy -- just a bit north. She loves her job. Maybe she could help you out w/that question. Forsyth medical center (novant health) is the other MAJOR hospital here....not sure if they still hire LPNs...and then High Point Regional....hmmmm...

I'm SO sorry I could not be of more help!!

WELCOME to the area! Let me know how things go for you!!!

Thanks for the reply... I'm moving from Eastern Tennessee... and I'm seeing what you meant about the larger hospitals not hiring LPN's :nurse: Ah, well I'll keep looking. Seems the agencies hire more LPN's than anyone, and I'm not opposed to doing some of that. I've applied to the VA, Recruitment for Ft. Bragg, Camp LaJune. Although not in Western NC or Piedmont... I'll do whatever it takes!!

Thanks so much for the info and you HAVE been helpful!!! Thank you for the welcome.. I'll be there permanently after the 1st of February. Look forward to chatting with you.... email me at anytime.

I work at Forsyth Medical Center and most of our units do hire LPN's. I know ICU, CCU, L&D, & NICU do not though. Not sure about the ED. Cardiac telemetry does hire LPN's, as do med surg units, mother baby. There is also Medical Park Hospital which is an affiliate of Forsyth directly across the street from Forsyth, and they hire LPN's also. It is a med-surg facility. Good luck and welcome to the area. They don't call it God's country for nothing ! amy from surry county

Thanks so much for the welcome and the information!! I have one interview set up for this Wednesday, 1/30. Keep your fingers crossed for me please! Hopefully, the move is planned for the weekend of the 2/1. Taking nothing but my uniforms, some jeans, and the two dogs.... (actually after the prior divorce, there isn't much left to take!!) Just as well, starting over means starting over. Even at my age, we can learn new "tricks" Oh yes, the Honda has over 200,000 miles on it... keep me in your prayers that it keeps on trucking for another month or so.

Hey Frustrated~ Good luck w/everything!! Let us know how things go:):) :):)

Hey Nursecave:) ~~ What unit are you on @ Forsyth? I'm doing my Maternity rotation there right now. How long have you been there (Forsyth)? Do you like it? Anything to say as far as comparing it to Baptist? I'm covering ALL my bases before even thinking there's just "the two hospitals" -- ya know? Nursing is too diverse to narrow one's view! I have nothing against the 2 hospitals (& more than likely will end up at one, lol) ~~ but am just taking everything into consideration and would love to hear what you have to say about it:):)

Thanks a bunch!!
