I have a BSN from WGU and I remember the layout of the course wasn't crazy, they don't use canvas, just do the work and you're done PASS. I enrolled in Chamberlain for the FNP. I did the meet and greet today, looked at the layout and I'm just NOT liking the constant discussions, constant replying to posting, the constant engagement being glued to the computer. Has anyone done WGU's FNP program? I spoke to the admissions, you get 4 classes a 6month semester if you do the 2.5 year track and it's no discussions posts. I really don't want to engage much with people. I just want a detailed outline of what the course work is like. NOT THE ANSWERS OR ACTUAL ASSIGNMENT DETAILS. I know I sound like I'm whiny... I just work differently and would like to know someone else's experience. Thanks in advance

Red Flag to me is your comment "I really don't want to engage much with people." The Nurse Practitioner role is highly involved with direct personal contact with clients and staff, insurance and pharmacies, etc. Why are you considering the NP role, where do you see yourself. practicing upon graduation?

To work at my friends med spa the state of Florida requires you be an NP or PA at minimum to inject. I guess I should've put that in the description. I understand your concern, but I do not want to be in acute care like that anymore.

I have completed my BSN and Master of Health Leadership at WGU and love the format: I am enrolled in MSN-FNP program with March 1st start date.
I get the "don't want to engage much with people" for the school program. Working with other students on boards, topics, chats, etc. can be a pain and change the pace of your own studies. I prefer the solidarity of WGU as well. It's not the same as managing patients and families. WGU does have student support with like minded people if there is a need to chat, ask questions, or bounce ideas. They do not offer assistance with finding clinical placement so that will be fun! Good luck to you!
