Hi! I have started the application process for the Western Governor's pre-licensure program and had my first call with a counselor. Her and I have another call set up for next week but I was hoping someone on here would have the answer since I couldn't find any start date information on their actual website. She said that they are spaced out by three months, and that the next one is in July. But I see many people posting that for california they started in January, or are looking forward to the July and October cohorts. If they were spaced three months apart, is there one in April and she just accidentally skipped over that? Or are there only three start dates being January, July, and October?

Hi Missy,
The only cohorts I know of are Cedars Sinai in October, Orange County (multiple locations) in October, and Pasadena in January or February. However, things change frequently, and they may delay cohorts or even add locations. I highly recommend sending your counselor an email if you can and ask again so you don't have to wait a week. (I hate waiting!) Sometimes you have to be very clear in what information you need and you also need to clearly express your interest. For example, if you are interested in any So Cal location, let him/her know that you want to know about any cohorts opening up in the next year in a 100 mile radius. Unfortunately I think some of the counselors are not as familiar with the So Cal prelicensure process. Good luck!

You will never get any dates for any programs on the website. Only the Pre-licensing enrollment counselor can provide that. They are the only who have the dates.
My enrollment counselor sent these dates. Contact your Enrollment Counselor for any updates or changes.
1. July 1, 2015 Orange County cohort Deadline: April 1 2015
2. August 1, 2015 Pasadena cohort Deadline: May 1, 2015
3. October 1,2015 Cedar Sinai cohort Deadline: July 1, 2015
Most of the posts you find here are nurses taking the RN to BSN program, Not Pre-licensing. So don't confuse yourself with those dates. Thats not for pre-licensing. There were no January dates. January if for RN to BSN.
Always ask for a Pre-Licensing Enrollment Counselor.
There are Pre-licensing enrollment counselors for Southern California. I can give you mine in private message if you want. The pre-licensing process is the same for the whole school no matter which state you take it in.
Thank you. I think those are what my counselor said, she just seemed to have a very bad connection on the phone and we had already spoken for about an hour and I didn't want to even ask again!
Thank you! I have emailed my counselor again, and Shonda helped with the dates she has posted. I hope they add more locations!!
I hope they find more locations as well. I have been in the process alittle over year getting everything together and was finishing the last degree program I was in. I always email my counselor to get updates on the dates. I am always asking if there are new locations as well. They are alittle slow at that part.
I have 2 classes that I am completing this semester at community college then take my TEAS exam then I am submitting my packet for the October Cohort.
That is awesome! I finished all my pre-requisites, and took the TEAS, but will be retaking that soon. I am in northern california I wish there was a spot closer.
Thats cool. How will you work going through WGU and living up north. I am born and raised Oakland, CA. I asked about hospitals joining in for clinicals up north but was told no time soon.

Do you guys know if a certification is req---what are the odds of getting accepted with any clinical certification such as CNA?
Being certified in a medical job is a major plus for them. They prefer you have CNA, MA, EMT, LVN, anything that shows you have medical experience and have working knowledge of the field. That will boost you above those who don't have any experience or certifications. I am currently doing an EMT Program online right now to get my certification back. I was going to get my CNA back but I love the EMT over CNA because I worked as an EMT for 10 + years. This will be a plus in getting accepted.
