West Coast University (WCU) Spring 2024

Published

Hi there!

I'm starting WCU Orange County in Jan 2024! I'm feeling so excited and nervous to start a new chapter in this nursing journey. The somewhat same jittery feeling I got when I was about to get married LOL. It would be great to connect with any future students. Anyone attending in the Spring term?

I am also really nervous too. I know they said we will be getting our schedule, but do what else the meeting will consist of ?

Heyy do you mind sharing your experience so far? I'd appreciate any feedback, I'm thinking about applying for fall

I feel the same way as I have family obligations and I'm probably going to sacrifice sleep. To help with time management, I suggest googling "block schedule template for nursing school and use a planner. I think when I see my confirmed class schedule at registration, then I'll have a better idea when I have open slots to study. Good luck!

Heyyy how's your experience at WCU so far? Do you like it? I'm thinking about applying to start in the fall. I'd appreciate any feedback! Good luck on your journey

Hello!! I was also accepted for Jan 2024, I was wondering if there was a facebook group we can all join? I am also looking into housing since I'm not from the area! Please reach out to me if you are also looking for housemates(:

Heyyy how's your experience at WCU-OC so far? Do you like it? Do you recommend it?  I'm thinking about applying to start in the fall. I'd appreciate any feedback! Good luck on your journey

I am currently on my second term, I had most of my pre reqs transferred over. I should start Core in June. My first term I took Physiology(they are no longer taking physio as a transferred pre req, so more than likely you will have to take it) I took it online, and it was not too bad. I also took a psych class (in person) and a foundations of education class that everyone has to take (online). I did pretty well in my classes. I am currently taking a writing class (in person) and pathophysiology (online).. so far so good as of right now. Feel free to ask any questions, I'm happy to help

OMG thank you so much! You're so kind. My apologies for the late response I'm just seeing this. I was hesitant to take physiology at a local community college because they no longer accept it as a transfer. But it's nice to know that it's offered online at WCU! I ended up signing for the physiology class in the Summer (I still have Microbiology in the fall), I'm still nervous about the idea of going to WCU so I decided to finish my pre reqs at cc and apply to WCU by January 2025 hopefully it'll help my tuition. Is it reasonable for you? Do you find the professors to be helpful and knowledgeable? I'm worried I may have to pay a lot monthly and I don't plan to work during school.. if I need to, maybe part time but I'd prefer not to. Do you have any idea of how the financial part of it work? Is it true if you don't pay monthly you'll be removed? I'm also worried about the acceleration of it, is it time consuming with a lot of assignments and projects? Does it seem doable or is it challenging?

Thank you again, I appreciate your patience with me. I pray for all the best in your journey there and I pray it's going well for you so far! 🙂

do you need organic chem to graduate with your BSN I had a NP tell me I needed it

I think the school is good so far. I work part-time, so time management is crucial as there are deadlines to keep on top of. The workload on average can be time consuming, but it's doable and depends on the class/professor. Some classes are similar to CC's, but assignments are due earlier since this is an accelerated program (ie: every Wed and Sun). Figure out a consistent study routine according to your schedule and make it a priority. I have family obligations, so the remainder of my time is spent on studying and just going out once in awhile. Every student will have their own obligations; therefore, as long as you don't procrastinate and find how much time you need to succeed--you should be fine. Hope that helps and good luck!

The BSN program for nursing here doesn't require organic chem; however, I think the regular Chem class that is required here covers some organic topics. If you check on their website, you'll see the list of courses in their catalog that's required in your program of choice.

Hi, I was interested in WCU I was wondering if anyone took partial pre reqs at west coast and how much was tuition. I only have my sciences left but I want to do them at west coast. any opinions
