I attended an info session recently. I asked questions, took notes, and saw the tuition cost. But at my age (late 30's) and changing careers while single and no kids. I'd say I can handle this program. Don't need to, but prefer to get into a nurse program within the next 6 months versus taking a one year or a year and half to get A's or B's in the prereqs I need to apply at another University, then apply and hope.
Is there another forum or site or a way to find out how the job search was for the Dallas grads?
Do DFW medical establishments hire WCU grads with higher or lower expectations than grads from TWU, Baylor, TCU, UTA, etc. You can't fully trust the advisor about questions like that.
Are there any Dallas grads that can tell me how they are doing paying off their loans? I know most grads of any major have loan debt. But this tuition cost is just wow!

Sorry, I don't have anything wonderful to say about WCU. It's very early days for them in Texas - no NCLEX results to look at yet. I know that some of the people that have been hired into 'faculty' positions would not be considered qualified to serve in that capacity in other more established programs.
IMO, their tuition is exorbitant. They are taking advantage of people who are desperate for a shortcut into nursing. I will tell you that repaying 100k in student loans on a nurse's salary will not be a walk in the park. It could effectively reduce your disposable income to the same level as the average fast-food or retail worker. Worst case scenario? Amassing tons of debt and not reaching the desired outcome. I'd advise you to have a Plan B.

I will advise you take your prerequisites and apply to a regular university and go the traditional route. It might take long but it's worth it. It's a lot cheaper, WCU's tuition is way too much... that's my opinion, the decision is yours to make. Best of luck.

I am sure more student of WCU would answer you if you post on the other forums! Please go take a look at the other forums I have communicated with others on. WCU is very highly accelerated program and they really work with you in your courses but you must put alot of effort into it. If you have a support system and don't work I would go for it. The cost yes it really high but if you take the other factors of wait-listed getting all your prereqs then its worth it. Please ask any questions maybe I can answer them, where are you in the process of applying and what classes are you lacking. I have friends that just graduated and they all have jobs and there are some people starting Nursing core this fall and are doing well. Hope that helps.
