New student starting BSN program in January 2013...anyone else?

Does anyone know if you have clinicals at night and then classes in the morning? how often do you have to go work at hospitals during school? are the sites really far from the school?

Within 30 minutes, only happened once during peds, once a week.

which WCU do you go to? i am undeciding between ontario, oc, and la. I live in the middle within all 3.

I completely agree with the no tolerance for mediocrity comment. It is so true. Unfortunately, we lost a few students once we hit med surg/pharm. Some just did not take it as serious and they ended up failing and are now repeating. There are a lot of good professors and some bad ones too. That is at every school though.

im honestly considering going to this school. ive always been a bit skeptical though. especially since its so expensive.

can anyone give me an idea of how much it would cost for me to go there.

ive already taken all my pre reqs. i only need to take the teas. i also have an AA.

Most of the clinicals are during the day. 6-6, once a week for 9 weeks. Some of the sties can be far, but you can submit a request to have a closer location or you can trade with another student. The farthest sites I've gone to were Alhambra, Pasadena, and Culver City.

My friends and family are telling me to be more open minded and to apply to other public universities, and I will. I've been at Fullerton college and got serious about my life a little late. Obviously, not as late as others but I feel that I've wasted considerable time messing around. My grades aren't exactly at the competitive level and so I believe I won't be able to get into any nursing programs at csu or uc. But I'll still apply anyways. I was considering wcu as my back up school and a couple of things worry me. Do graduates from this school have trouble finding jobs? How well known is this school in the medical community? Like, will most hospitals recognize this school and say that the BSN they have isn't an easy hand out? My friends and family are very skeptical of private schools and so I just want things to be cleared up and for me to be reassured that this school is what it says it is.

Btw, one last question, for those of you that finished pre-reqs at a community college and now attend wcu, how much did those pre-reqs knock out of your tuition? Along with considering this school as my back up, I'm also considering ROTC and the Reserves to help pay for this expensive price tagged school.

As far as I know ROTC is only paired with certain colleges, and WCU isn't one of them (keep in mind my knowledge is 10 years old). If you search you will find many threads regarding the credibility and job finding ease for WCU students. I've written a lot of them.
