West Coast University August 2017

Published

Is anyone joining the cohort at West Coast University starting August 21, 2017 at the Los Angeles Campus? I went to an info session today and spoke with an advisor. I have my financial aid meeting this upcoming Thursday. I was just wondering if there was anyone on the same boat as me?

I had taken all my my prereqs at another college so I won't be taking any of those there. I'll only be taking the 4 required classes there and then starting the core nursing classes.I know it's a lot of money, but i'd rather invest in my future rather than anything else.

How much are you willing to borrow to become a nurse?

Im starting at orange county this August. I have a registration meeting soon! Let me know if you have any questions :)

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

A decade or more of crushing student loan debt (more than a house payment in most cases) severely impacts your future more than waiting for a more affordable option. PLEASE reconsider- and search the discussions here regarding this terrible choice.

Once they show you the amount of money you would need to borrow- go home and plug it into a repayment program. Ask yourself how big of an impact paying that payment for the next decade would impact where you can live, what you can drive, if you could take a vacation or afford to eat in a restaurant now and then.

Tuition wasnt bad at all for me. I have all the prerequisites done and I got 20000 $ covered with financial aid, federal loan, and scholarship! If you have good transferred GPA, WCU can give you up to 12000 dollar scholarship. You just need to keep on searching scholarships instead of taking out private loan...

Hi guys

Im starting at la campus this October. I want to hear about those who alradg started the cohort/ nursing program and scholarship. They said im not qualified for the scholarship and cal grant/ other financial aid(free money)

Why you are not qualified for a scholarship or grant ? How do you like the school so far ?

If you're not qualified for any free money then I would highly consider looking into other schools than funding that entire program with only loan money....

So I don't understand why everyone is acting like this school is so expensive. There is only one community college in my area, the Bay Area, that offers a nursing degree and its only an Aa and they only accept 60 out of 300 applicants once a year. So very unpractical odds of getting accepted.

The other option is state or private schools. I went to Dominicans meeting and they told me they were 55,000 a semester for 6 semesters, that's the most expensive I've seen at about $330,000. The cheapest state school I have come across is cal state east bay and their program is $25,000 a semester for 5 semesters after you transfer with your pre reqs finished totaling about $125,000. That makes the cheapest program this school. west coast University after pre reqs it's a little less than $100,000.

I'm a little confused. I was looking at this school as the cheapest option I could find...
