West Coast Univeristy

Published

Hello, I'm starting nursing school at West Coast University in Miami, FL. Just wanted to know your experience while attending this school. Any information would be appreciated. I don't really know what to expect. I know it's a hard program but I just want to hear from some of the students.

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

Have you looked at any other schools? Because the crushing load of student loan debt you will accrue at this most expensive for-profit will impact your life for a decade or more. PLEASE reconsider.

I wish .. but I work full time and they offer night classes

There are other options. Do the math on the student loan debt- somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500/ month for 10+ years. Even if you have to wait a couple years- it is not worth it!

Do your prerequisites at a community college. Save like crazy until you can afford nursing school. Look at LPN/ LVN programs.

I did do my pre reqs already at a community college. They gave me a $5k grant for my first year and I ended up coming out of pocket $2000 . Luckily my company can help pay for some of it. First year is about $14k.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I agree 100% with mean mary jean.

The debt is not worth it. I went there for 3 weeks and i had to pay $3000...can you imagine if you went there for three years???

Save up and go to a community college or a state college. If you don't succeed in their program, you can't transfer because it's a trade school.

Ask yourself: what's the rush.

Do you absolutely need to go there.

I work full time and there's not many schools that offer PT night classes.. If I take my time then all my pre req classes will not be transferable. I will have to retake my science courses if I wait
