As a nurse, and I guess a germaphobe at times, and just generally weird.....I have picked up on a few of my own rediculous behaviors that I guess I have managed to obtain through the years.
1. If drinking from a large open glass on the nurses unit. I cover the glass with a paper towel, put a straw through the top, and bend the straw not up, but down towards the ground..................why..........well, everybody knows germs fall from the sky and into things...like straws.... :chuckle
2. When opening a new can of pop, I wash it under the sink of running water, and then take a paper towel, all smushed up to a point, and go around the rim of the top of the can to get the dirt off, then open it and drink it.
3. I don't let food touch each other on my plate, and I only eat one thing at a time on my plate. I always finish one thing, and then move onto the next.
Anybody else share in this weirdness????????????????? :rotfl:
I wipe down my desk at school with hand sanitizer. Thankfully, I am always extra early to my class so no one sees this. So I come in, pull out one of many tissues out of my bag, pour drops of the sanitizer and wipe up the desk. Then I clean my hands with the sanitizer.
If I drop my pen on the floor I immediately pull out napkins, pour sanitizer in it, pick up the pen with 2 fingers and wipe it down, then clean my hands.
If I have a plate of food between me and my drink, I bring the drink around the plant to my mouth, not OVER the plate.
If I am walking down the street (sidewalk) and the person walking toward me sneezes, I turned and walk in the street, so that I won't have to walk into the area that the person sneezed in.
Does everyone knock on their closet door before entering? My sister gets undressed in her garage after work to keep germs out of the house. She also cleans the seatbelt in her car frequently and reaches WAY up high to open doors. She's a nurse too. When we were little (on car trips) if mom (RN) was asked to stop because we had to pee she'd say "well honey, your bladder will hold......cc's of urine" Mom was always sharing bits of wisdom with us, when we would awaken her to ask a question she'd often say "Did you chart it?" and of course we quickly learned to respond with a confidant "yes" so she would allow us to go play.

How about watching a horror movie and instead of being grossed out, you "critique" it?
