3 week Anatomy class at Samuel Merritt

Published

So Samuel Merritt has an Anatomy class that goes from June 1 to June 19. It is M-F 8 AM to 12:30. I have no idea how they get 4 units of class time in 3 weeks. The JCs in my area are the same hours but 7 weeks.

Anyway has anyone taken this? How much outside work is there? Is it worth the 2,000 USD it costs for the class.

The only reason I am even considering it is I can do Anatomy and then at my local JC do Micro in a normal 7 week session. I would still be able to work and I would be done with pre-reqs by end of summer.

Anyone have any other (cheaper) suggestions to get both Anatomy and Micro finished this summer and still work 30 hours? I have a couple weeks of vacation I can take.

I once took a five week anatomy class in the summer. I didn't like the fast pace but it covered everything we needed to know and was over fast. I don't know what they expect the students to learn and retain after three weeks, but you will get the class out of the way. You are lucky to get both of those classes in the summer. Cheaper alternatives are hard to get because everybody wants the classes. Good luck.

I considered taking both Anatomy and Physiology at Samuel Merritt last summer. I needed to finish my pre-reqs quickly to apply for this summer's ABSN. Instead, I took A&P 1 and A&P 2 at CSUEB. They were offered back to back, five weeks each last summer. The cost was quite a bit lower.

I don't recommend that class. You have to learn too much for that short amount of time. Keep in mind that you will have to memorize a couple hundred anatomy terms, locations, and possibly physiology... depending on your class. That is a lot of cram into your brain in three weeks, much less retaining it for your nursing exam.

Let me put it this way... my college offers bunches of 5 week AP2 classes and a few 8 week. I chose the 8 week course so I would be able to study.
